Kyoto University of the Arts (Location: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture; President: Taku Sato), operated by the Uryuyama Gakuen Educational Foundation, and Jizai Inc. Kyoto University of the Arts (Location: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture; President: Taku Sato), operated by the Uryuyama Gakuen Educational Foundation, and Jizai Inc. (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Yuki Ishikawa) are pleased to announce the commencement of a business partnership in AI-centered research and development.

In recent years, as AI technology adoption rapidly advances in the education sector, there is a growing need to build new learning environments that fuse “human-like creativity” with technological innovation. Under the philosophy of “Nation Building Through the Arts,” Kyoto University of the Arts aims to realize a world where everyone can access “knowledge” and “beauty” without constraints, promoting digital transformation (DX) in arts education. Meanwhile, Jizai, under the mission “Bringing AI-driven transformation to every industry,” promotes AI social implementation across various industries through the provision of industry-specific AI DX services.

This business partnership will be implemented through collaboration among three parties: Kyoto University of the Arts, its group company X-tech Management Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture; Representative Director: Makoto Kitamura), and Jizai. By establishing a cooperative framework in the “Arts Education × AI” domain and providing “learning” opportunities for all people, we aim to contribute to the “Nation Building Through the Arts” philosophy that has been upheld since our founding—“Making the world peaceful through the power of arts.”

This business partnership will promote joint initiatives focusing on the following key areas:

We will work toward providing environments where all people involved in learning, including students and faculty, can actively and safely utilize AI through the development of guidelines and construction of playground environments.

We will advance the development and provision of AI-premised products, including AI partner products that promote and support student learning, next-generation educational materials, and products that achieve fundamental operational efficiency improvements for faculty and staff.

We will conduct research on new artistic expression methods utilizing AI technology and research on AI application technologies in the creative field.

We will build a sustainable growth foundation through organizational design, human resource development, and strategic planning premised on AI utilization.

Through this business partnership, we aim to create model cases for AI technology utilization in arts education and broadly contribute these results to society. We also envision collaboration with domestic and international educational institutions and companies, contributing to the construction of new ecosystems in the “Learning × AI” field.

Comment from Osamu Ogasawara, Director of the Digital Campus Bureau, Uryuyama Gakuen Educational Foundation

In future educational settings, the ability to utilize AI will certainly become a fundamental literacy. AI has the potential to not only achieve efficiency but also serve as a tool that can promote deep thinking and inspire creativity in each student and faculty member. Through this business partnership with Jizai, I hope that Kyoto University of the Arts will be able to provide new “learning” methods that are appropriate for our times.

Our university also aims to realize a world where everyone can access “knowledge” and “beauty.” Through AI utilization, we hope to ensure ultimate accessibility to “learning” and become a place of learning where people’s talents can flourish freely, transcending all conditions such as age, race, language, and physical or mental disabilities. We are committed to advancing this project with full dedication.

Comment from Yuki Ishikawa, Representative Director and CEO of Jizai Inc.

We are extremely pleased to work together with Kyoto University of the Arts and Crosstech Management. The compatibility between AI and learning is extremely high, and we believe that how to appropriately apply AI to learning is an important theme for Japan’s future.

By promoting DX to more broadly “create next-generation learning and learning environments,” we have gained the opportunity to work together with Jizai, sympathizing with Kyoto University of the Arts’ direction and philosophy of “Making the world peaceful through the power of arts.” We are confident that by redesigning learning processes, assessments, and materials to be AI-premised, we will accelerate the “learning enabling” of students and faculty.

We look forward to being able to assist Kyoto University of the Arts in advancing digital transformation in arts education toward realizing the philosophy of “Nation Building Through the Arts.”
